When it comes to vaping, it’s nice to have a universal standard. Not that we have one when it comes to batteries or much of anything else, but the 18650 lithium-ion battery is probably the closest we’ve come. With the 18650’s widespread use among vape manufacturers, it’s easy to buy a backup battery or some spares to hold you over those times you just can’t manage to wait for a recharge.

Not surprisingly, because of how many vapes take use of the 18650, just about every vape shop carries them. So if you’re passing by a local vape shop and feel like picking up a battery, you can with little worry that they won’t have them in stock.

This also means that you can use the same batteries for different vapes. While not always the case, a lot of vapes make use of this particular battery type, which will allow you to get that much more use of your rechargeable 18650s.

For the sake of a universal standard in vape batteries, we applaud all those manufacturers who have come out with portable vapes powered by 18650 lithium-ion batteries. And it’s not just vape mods and vape pens designed for e-juices and concentrates, but dry herb vapes as well. Example: DaVinci IQ. With the IQ, we see a portable vaporizer designed for dry herbs that runs on 18650 battery power. Smart? Very.

It’s also powerful and compact. Powerful enough to power some of the best vapes on the market and compact enough to be used in pocket-friendly portables. What else could you want from a vape battery?

In light of all this, we can’t help but crown the 18650 the king of vape batteries.
