The Arizer Solo 2 is a rock solid vape with incredible vapor production. I could literally end this review here and you would know enough with that one line, but seeing as you’re already here, I’ll tell you a bit more about it. But before I jump right into all that, a little background first.
The Background
I’m an original Arizer Solo owner. Meaning: I own the very first edition of this vaporizer (and the latest, the new Solo 2). I also own a whole bunch of other vapes, but few that compare to the Solos in terms of overall quality.
The first Solo that came out, the one I used first, really did well to make a name for itself as a quality machine. It’s not the prettiest and it doesn’t have the most features, but it does do one thing extremely well and that’s vaporize dry herbs. And for me, that’s what’s really important. After all, what’s a vape that doesn’t do a good job of vaping what you put in it? A waste of money.
Massive Upgrade
Now while I do appreciate the original, even to this day, it was always apparent that there was room for improvement with the design. But just how much one could improve upon the design wasn’t readily apparent until Arizer released the updated version, the new Solo 2, which is significantly better than the original and far exceeds my expectations for a followup to a classic.
The new Solo 2 heats up in less than 30 seconds, which is a lot faster than the minute plus that the original takes to heat up. This in itself is huge as one of my pet peeve’s with vaporizers is the downtime at the start of a session where you have to wait for it to heat up to proper vaping temps — a problem mostly confined to dry herb vaporizers. Thankfully, Arizer made a point to dramatically enhance the heat up time with their followup to their classic Solo. And that’s not all.
Arizer also took the original’s limited temperature controls and upgraded them significantly, taking it from seven preset temperatures to a full on digital temperature control system that lets you choose exactly what temperature you want to vape on. A major upgrade from my perspective as it effectively gives you, the user, full control over its powerful heating element. And it is a powerful heating element, but more on that next.
Strong & Clean Vapor
One of the big takeaways you’ll get after you hit a Solo 1 or Solo 2 is how powerful the vapor is. These aren’t your novelty vapes spitting out wispy hits of vapor that are hardly visible. No, not that. This is basically the opposite of that: strong, thick vapor that you’ll see and feel. It’s good, real good. And part of that has to do with the materials that Arizer selected for their vapor paths. When you start mixing in the wrong materials, you can really do a number on the taste. Fortunately, with the Solos, it’s all stainless steel, ceramic, and glass — none of which seem to have any negative impact on the purity and flavor of the vapor. The result? Super tasty vapor that’s just as good as the material you put in it.
Reliable
This is one area where a lot of vapes I’ve used seem to fail: reliability. Day in and day out, the Arizer Solo 2 is solid as a rock. It never fails. It always works. And on top of this, it’s durable. So if you do happen to drop it, which I don’t suggest, there’s a good chance that it’ll continue to work. It’s a tough little vape.
Could Be Smaller
I really don’t have any complaints about either Solo, especially the Solo 2. But there is one area that I wouldn’t have minded seeing a bit more improvement and that’s in the size department.
The overall size of the Solo 2 is good, it feels nice and solid when you hold it, but when you go to tuck it away in your pocket- it’s like, “oh, it’s kind of big.” I mean, it will fit. It does fit. But could it be smaller and lighter? Yes. But if I had to choose between a smaller, lighter vape that works alright and a larger, heavier one that works great – I’d go with the one that works best and that’s basically the Solo 2. It really does work that well. Never a disappointment.
Recommendation
The Solo 2 is an awesome vape to use around the house while you’re lounging or take with you when you’re going out. It’s not the most compact, but when it comes to vapor production, battery life, ease of use, and price tag- it’s hard to beat. In fact, this is one of the best deals there is. It’s a full featured dry herb vaporizer for a good price. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable portable for dry herbs. If you want to buy one, I suggest you buy it from this store.
