5% Nic Salts Are Not Too Strong

There are a lot of people out there claiming that 5% nicotine is just too much for e-liquid and that’s it unnecessary. In our ever so humble opinion, that is complete hogwash. They definitely have their place and their place is in our pods. We use 5% strength vape pods and we do so because we used to be heavy smokers. We tried some weaker e-cigs early on in our attempts to quit smoking by switching to e-cigarettes but they don’t do it for us. Once we found 5% pods, though, cigarettes were history for us.

What 5% Nicotine Means

There are different ways of displaying the amount of nicotine in vape juice and different e-liquid brands use different methods, which has led to some confusion. If you see 5% nicotine, that means there’s 50 MG of nicotine per ML of juice. That’s a high concentration, but there are higher. The only people that are really going to need something as high as 5% are heavy smokers that are trying to get off cigarettes or whatever it is that they’re smoking, be it cigars, hookah, or whatever.

Only With Nic Salts Does It Make Any Sense

Nobody can really vape 5% strength juice unless it’s using nic salts. With the old school nic that original e-cigs used, free-base nicotine, it’s hardly possible. You get up that high with free-base and you’re going to cough your brains out because it’s going to be crazy harsh. With nicotine salts, you can actually do it and the reason is that they’re smoother, much smoother.

An Added Benefit For Heavy Smokers

Nic salts are actually great for ex-smokers for another reason, too. Never-smokers don’t even need to think about any of this but the fact is that nic salts will get into your body quicker, so you get that nic fix with the quickness and don’t even think about smoking cigarettes once it kicks in. This is clutch if you’re just beginning to transition to e-cigs.

Have To Be Careful How You Vape It

If you think you can just toss some 5% nic salt juice in your sub-ohm mod’s tank and vape it up, you are mistaken. The only nic salt juice that a sub-ohm vape will handle is going to be designed specifically for it. Rather, it’s going to be super low strength like 3 MG or maybe 6 MG. This is where you want to be careful because you don’t want to put the wrong juice in your vape. If you’re really set on vaping with nic salts then you probably want a pod vape, especially if you’re thinking about vaping something like 50 MG e-liquid because there’s no way your sub-ohm vape is going to handle that concentration.

Pod Vapes Work With 5% Nic Salts

We used a photograph of a Juul vape for this article because Juul, at least in the US, can be purchased in 5% strength pods. Their pods aren’t refillable though, but there are plenty of pod systems with refillable pods that work with 5% nic salts like the Uwell Caliburn. If you’re interested in the Caliburn, just a word of caution: it hits super hard. For vapers that want a vape that really rips, the Caliburn is what’s up.
